Xenophobia – The black Man is The black Man’s Downfall
“Xenophobia” as described by Wikipedia “is the unreasoned fear of that which is perceived to be foreign or strange. It can manifest in many ways involving the relations and Perception of an ingroup towards an outgroup., including the fear of losing identity, suspicion of its activities, aggression and desire to eliminate its presence to secure a presumed purity”.
This man launched Xenophobia in South Africa. His name is Godwill Zwelithi, a Zulu King. His speech on March 23rd gave rise to Xenophobic attacks. In his speech he said that locals are the made to compete with foreigners for the few economic opportunities they had available. His major complains were that 1. Foreigners do not “respect” locals. 2. Foreigners are involved in crime. 3. SA traders cannot compete with the prices that foreign-owned businesses were selling their product. After his speech Xenophobia started and Godwill Zwelithi has not “lifted a finger” to stop or curb it. In fact he still insists that foreigners should leave SA. See graphic pictures below.
His comments were widely condemned by the SA DA describing it as “highly irresponsible…..he should do the right thing – retract and apologise”. Yet the Zulu King refused to apologise and as you can see above the xenophobic attacks has worsened.
I have a couple of questions. Where the foreigners not part of the mob who helped SA fight for the struggle for Liberty? All the white people calling themselves South Africans are they indigenes of SA or they are offspring of the colonial masters? Do the so called foreigners not pay their tax which adds up to SA’s monthly/yearly generated revenue? About the Kings claim of foreigners doing drugs and stealing, are the SA locals now claiming not to be part of the drug, stealing, rape crimes in SA?
I don’t know about other countries but Nigeria to be specific played a very large role financially to SA in the fight against appartheid. http://www.gamji.com/articles8000/NEWS8020.htm http://www.safpi.org/news/article/2013/south-africa-needs-to-appreciate-nigeria’s-role-endind-aparthied See i personally think South Africans are ungrateful bunch, well the ones killing people and the ones who stand and watch without lending a voice to stop this wickedness and inhuman act against Nigerians and anyone at large. The Zulu king is a disgrace all kings and Obas who are supposed to be wise. How time flies. Now they forgot the financial, medical and moral aides the other countries (where this “foreigners” originated from) gave to them in the worse times of their lives. Am sure Nelson Mandela is weeping in his grave now because if he let the British (who colonized, mistreated, raped, enslaved them for years in agony) stay and nationalize as South Africans why not accommodate fellow African brothers and sisters.
As a matter of fact, I support the motion that all South African business (DSTV, Shoprite and more) that we let thrive in Nigeria be boycotted. http://www.newsexpressngr.com/news/detail.php?news=10840&title=DPA-mobilises-for-nation-wide-boycott-of-South-African-businesses-in-Nigeria-writes-South-african-govt.
On another note, if you are Nigerian and do not see anything wrong with what the Oba of Lagos said during his Campaign, then you are xenophobic. Same inciting hate comment as the one from the zulu King that can cause this type of uproar. Only in our case, God was merciful and we knew better and didn't act on it like the South Africans. Learn the lessons Nigerians. We are one country and one people regardless of what tribe you are. Learn to Love, respect each other and make our country a better one.
While we are at it, Please what is our government doing about this?
This is really sad. The South Africans forget that evn if d South Africans in diaspora are repatriated, der will still be unemployment and over population, increased crime. Its jst penny wise, pound foolish
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you @omapearl. For christsake! Don't they think? How do they think they will gain revenue after they have scared off "foreigners"? They really don't deserve any help with respect to accommodating their businesses in other countries! Afteral, they are "foreigners".
