Buhari's Appointment Balance/Inbalance
The picture was in circulation on twitter, and Senator Ben Bruce aired his take on the whole balancing of President Buhari’s appointment in the various political zones in Nigeria.
I agree with him. Are we still on this tribal politics nonsense? For how long are we going to continue like this? After the grand effort made during election to vote in the best candidate, are we going to now go backwards? What has his appointing credible candidates for political positions have to do with tribe? Why should anyone be appointed based on tribe? If you are qualified and have shown your integrity in previous positions of authority, then by all means state your case.
Yes, you would ask if there are no qualified men with integrity in the East or South, I have asked the same too. But where are they? Where are the ones who are both academically qualified and also have integrity?
For instance, Kachikwu hails from Onicha-Ugbo, a town in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria. He is a First Class Graduate of Law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the Nigerian Law School. He holds a Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Law from Harvard Law School. Worked with TEXACO Nigeria Limited where he served as the General Manager, Legal, Upstream and Downstream. From TEXACO Nigeria Limited, Kachikwu, moved to Exxon-Mobil (Africa), where he was appointed the Executive Vice Chairman and General Counsel of Exxon-Mobil (Africa), sometime in 2012. On September 25, 2012, the Society for Corporate Governance (SCG) celebrated the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachiukwu, as the Executive Vice-Chairman, Exxon Mobil, at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. Kachikwu is an expert in Petroleum Law and Practice. See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/10-facts-to-know-about-the-new-nnpc-gmd-appointed-by-buhari/#sthash.prSAkRdH.dpuf
Yes I would like to see more southern appointments and Eastern Appointment (East-east as in Abia, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, etc not Delta igbo, Portharcourt igbo or Bayelsa igbo) but only on the basis of qualification and integrity. Anything short of this, should be banned from the era of CHANGE.
What do you think? You should let us know your thoughts, also maybe you should nominate one person form your tribe or local government or you just know someone qualified enough on both academic and integrity count who COULD BE part of President Buhari's nomination for a ministerial position.
