Weddings And Aso Ebi
So I went on bella Nija and clicked on Ebony Life’s Dolapo Oni’s wedding. The photos were beautiful with very stylish looking people and yes lots of eye candies too *wink*. Her aso ebi was deep Orange, reddish kinda (forgive me and knowing my colours), all the same I loved it. It was quiet different from the norm.
By the way, Bolanle of moment with mo, you slayed. See all the beautiful pictures here http://www.bellanaija.com/2015/08/03/from-toolz-to-denola-grey-see-all-the-celebs-socialites-at-dolapo-oni-gbite-sijuwades-wedding/
So I went straight to read comments (the interesting part) and as always, you see the sincere critics, jealousy group, beefing group, angry group, happy group and indifferent group. I like reading comments on blogs (especially on interesting articles) because some crack me up, some disappoint me, others annoy me and I learn from some, above all I do it just to get a glimpse into the mind and hearts of humans in general.
So I started to read and got to a group of comments about how Lamide and Zanab wore some other cloths that was not the Aso Ebi.
For the purpose of this article, I am going to divide the group into two (For and Against). The FOR group said "zainab and lamide falling hands since 1920.I’ll rather not go for my friend’s wedding than to go and not wear the asoebi”, “….. plus have noticed that this ebony life people dont like buying aso ebi especially lamide and zainab. i dnt have a problem with that but why show up like you were forced to”, “…..Lamide wats the problem oh??? I kno u wanna be unique but sometimes its just right for u to be in aso-ebi to show unity. You both have a friendship so it was expected of u”.
The AGAINST group wrote “Seriously?! I personally don’t buy aso ebi and my friends know me for this! Must they buy aso ebi? Do you know how many people that are wearing that aso-ebi and they haven’t paid for it?, Do you know whether the aso-ebi finished? Did you count how many people are already wearing it? Would you wear it again or would it be labelled ‘that aso-ebi that everyone has’ at the bottom of your wardrobe? ” and the comments continued.
As always I have my thoughts about this. First, I would never steal or borrow to buy an aso ebi. Second, I would not buy an aso ebi if I do not like the material and therefore not something I would ever wear again. (Especially, if it is expensive). Now after reading the comments am thinking, how many times in your lifetime do you get to play uniform and dress up with your friends and family? How many times do you get to do something so unifying as a group and for friendship sake? And did it occur to the against group that some ladies (myself included) don’t just go to hunt and sew Ankara and lace and see Aso ebi as a great way to owning one?
So yes, if I am financially buoyant at the said period, the celebrant is a good friend (not just an acquaintance o), I like the material and finally I would be available for this said event, am so buying the Aso Ebi.
What do you think? Like I said, I like reading your comments/opinions. Oya share *smiles*
